Frequently asked questions

1 Why should I juice?

By being properly nourished and hydrated at a cellular level and by promoting alkalinity in our body is the best way to increase energy and have balance in our health. Nothing applied topically to our skin can give us the hydration and show our health that comes from within. The more alkaline your body is, the slower the aging process. Generally speaking, most vegetables and fruits have an alkaline-forming effect on your body fluids. Most grains, animal foods, alcohol, coffee and highly processed foods have an acid-forming effect on your body.

This simple addition of fresh live cold-pressed juice daily will ensure you are properly detoxifying your body to promote wellness, obtaining maximized cellular nourishment, slowing down the aging process and giving yourself an energy boost.

2 Why should I choose cold-pressed juices and why are they more expensive?

There are 3 basic methods of juicing: centrifugal, masticating and triturating – also known as hydraulic press or cold-pressed. The cold-pressed method is the best method of extracting the most nutrient dense and enzyme intact juice as the process does not induce any friction and/or heat through blades. Although this method is expensive, precious enzymes remain alive and the least amount of oxygen is introduced during processing. We at Juice from the RAW only use the best method to produce our juices.

3 What are Enzymes?

Enzymes are energy. The saying ‘nature cures’ refers to enzyme activity because no other mechanism in the body can cure you. The other components of nutrition, namely protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals are only building blocks. They do not perform work. Enzymes give them the capacity to work and perform the biochemical reactions to digest and assimilate these building blocks. Living fruits and vegetables have their enzymes in tact. Heat from cooking destroys living enzymes, different from vitamins in this respect, which are not destroyed by heat.

Which is why cold-pressed juicing, although may be more expensive, retains these enzymes, thereby producing a more bio-available array of nutrients.

4 What are the main benefits of Cleansing?

With so much environmental toxins surrounding us, our body needs support in healing and fighting cellular degeneration. Properly designed cleanses are helpful in producing long term health benefits and to get out bodies back in balance. While some people may lose weight, cleansing more importantly helps bring our body back into balance and operate more efficiently. Cleanses are a powerful method to redirect energy via elimination organs, like the liver and kidneys and also via our lungs, gallbladder, skin and bowels into restorative and healing energy.

Benefits will include, proper digestion, better metabolism, clear skin, more energy and mental clarity just to name a few.

5 Why should I cleanse?

We are exposed to toxins at every level – from the air we breathe, to the chemicals in fragrances, dyes on our clothes, cleaning agents at our home, BPAs on receipts, to the water we drink and the amount of processed foods we consume. Our body needs support to help detoxify efficiently no matter how clean of a lifestyle we live. Maximized nourishment is crucial to support the regeneration of our cells.

Juice therapy is a proven powerful healing tool that provides concentrated cellular nourishment and an increase in energy. Who doesn’t want more energy?

6 How often should I cleanse?

Each individual varies in their needs. The 3-day cleanses, such as the Whenever, Forever and Believer Cleanse programs we offer, is an easy fit for most people looking to jump start the detoxifying process and for those looking to get their health and energy back on track. It is most common to do this on a monthly or seasonal basis. After this you may support your ongoing maintenance with a weekly 1-day cleanse or a daily meal replacement, most beneficially at breakfast. This type of periodic cleanse, helps your body to reset itself during maintenance.

While cleansing is a highly powerful healing and beneficial tool, it is important to do so in conjunction with other ongoing healthy lifestyle choices.

7 How many days can I cleanse?

Typically a 3-day cleanse is the best way to jump start your detoxifying program. Some people may want to ease into it by juicing once a day or weekly, to see how your body reacts. A strict 3-day or 6-day cleanse is advised to be done on a monthly or seasonal basis.

After the initial cleanse, a maintenance regimen of a weekly or a daily meal replacement is beneficial. The optimal way to incorporate this into your daily routine is to begin the day with a glass of purified water with lemon, followed by a raw, tasty cold-pressed juice from Juice from the RAW. We advise to wait at least an hour before consuming any food.

8 How should I prepare for a cleanse?

It is best to prepare the body for a cleanse by cutting out, or significantly reducing, acid forming foods such as alcohol, dairy, animal products and processed foods. It is not necessary to go completely cold turkey, but the important aspect is to be mindful of what you are putting in your body. Remember to prepare the mind before the body.

9 What can I expect while cleansing?

Every individual is at different levels and adjusts differently to the process. As toxins and wastes are pushed to the surface and the process of detoxification begins, some people will start off with unsavory effects. They may or may not include light-headedness, headaches, skin eruptions, nausea, fatigue and body odor. The most common of these is nausea, which will be alleviated by drinking plenty of good quality water. The detoxifying process is quite an energy consuming function, so make sure to listen to your body and rest if you feel tired. It is normal to feel worse before you feel recharged.

10 Why do I feel nauseous?

The concentrated forms of vitamins and minerals allow toxins to be flushed via our bloodstream resulting in nausea. This is only temporary, if it is very bothersome, it helps to consume the juice slowly over a period of time and/or diluting it with good quality water.

11 Are your juices gluten-free?

Yes, there is no gluten in our juices.

12 Are your juices vegan friendly?

Our juices contain no lactose, dairy or animal products.

13 Can I do a cleanse while I’m pregnant or nursing?

Doing a strict juice cleanse is not recommended when you are pregnant or nursing, as the toxins released into the system may be circulated to the unborn or into the breast milk.

You may supplement your healthy diet with raw juice to take advantage of these bio-available nutrients, but as a precaution it is wise to avoid bee pollen as an additive to prevent any type of allergic reaction. Be sure to talk to your doctor first. Because fresh juice is unpasteurized, it can contain harmful microorganisms, such as potential dangerous strains of E. Coli. Make sure to buy fresh juices from reputable sources. We at Juice from the RAW use the strictest standards of hygiene to ensure all of our products are safe and nutritious.

14 Who should not cleanse?

Pregnant or nursing women are not recommended to go on cleanses. It is also not recommended for diabetics, individuals taking blood thinners and those with kidney complications.

If you are unsure, please consult with your doctor.

15 How do I get my protein on a cleanse?

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. The meat and dairy industry has influenced us to assume that protein only comes from these sources. When, in fact, the most bio-available way to get protein is to take in a wide array of amino acids. A multitude of fruits and vegetables will ensure you are getting a variety of essential amino acids. The effect of a cleanse is magnified by the break taken from the energy-robbing process of digestion, proving it can be helpful to take a pause from digesting concentrated forms of protein.

16 What about getting my fiber?

When juice is extracted from fruits, vegetables or cereal grass, fiber is lost from the pulp. Fiber is essential to proper digestion and optimal health, however removing it, is good with respect to a cleanse, as the phytonutrients, enzymes and vitamins are more rapidly digested and absorbed. This can speed up healing and regeneration of cells. Digestion is one of the most energy-intensive processes in our body, and by taking a break from it, we are freeing up energy to be used throughout the cleansing process.
